The Christmas "Spirit"?

I asked my brother if he was going to decorate his apartment for Christmas and he said to me "What's the point?". I think that this is very sad. The one time I didn't decorate for Christmas was the time that I just did not have any money for presents and I also figured "what's the point?". As sad as it sounds I'm glad that I went through this experience because it helped me to appreciate the Christmas season even more. It's not just about Christmas Eve and Christmas day but the days leading up to Christmas.

Even with all the bad news about people shooting at malls and such people still have the holiday spirit in them and when they show it it becomes quite contagious!

I doubt that my brother will change his mind about decorating his apartment for the holiday but for me I'm doing the decorating thing! I even have a gift already under my tree!

Oh Aches And Pains!

I was going up the steps and I realized just how tired it made me! Much as I hate to face it I am getting older! - Yuck!

I tire a lot more easily and I have come to the conclusion that it might be a good idea for me to take naps more often - Isn't that a terrible thing to realize?

I also think I'm beginning to see why people have so much trouble with their hips! There have been times when I have laid down and after some time wanting to get up and my hip just says NO!

I'm also thinking about exercising more. I live in an area where I could take walks to the store, to the mailbox or even to some of the other places in the neighborhood. I see people all the time that live in my area taking walks just for the sake of taking walks and more and more it seems to be a good idea for me to do it too!

I have to face it - I'm getting older (and hopefully better!)

Bored?

I talked with my brother recently and he was telling me how bored he was. He has been having some health-related proboems lately and he is very "down" on himself. He thinks that nobody would want him in his current (or any) position.

I don't think that this is a good attitude for him to have. It's borderline depression - at least it sounds that way to me.

He thinks that just because he doesn't have much money that he can't do anything. speaking as someone who hasn't had much money at times I know that you can be able to things without having to have money. I know he has a computer and he has internet access and he could certainly find something to do with that. In fact he likes being on the computer and there are surely enough things online that can keep one busy for awhile.

I don't like hearing him talk about how bored he is - like I said it sounds like bordeline depression. There is so much that he has to offer and there's so much out there (even if he only uses his computer to get there) to do and see.

I try to uplift his spirits but he is so determined that he "is what he is" that its like talking to a brick wall!

"GirlFriends"

"Girlfriends" is one of my favorite TV shows and I was shocked when I found out that Jill Marie Jones who played Toni Childs on the program wouldn't be back on the show. My first instinct was that I thought the character was such a b*tch that she didn't want to return to the show or she just wanted too much money to return to the show.

Of course I'm getting the character and the actress mixed up - I tend to do that!

The rumors say that there was some sort of contract dispute and everybody involved seems to be so hush-hush on the matter but I have read some online sites that say that Miss Jones was "hoodwinked"!

The show just will not be the same without her!

"Mornings With Whoopi"

I mentioned before about how much I like and admire Whoopi Goldberg.

I now find out that she has a radio show called "Mornings With Whoopie" and I decided to listen to it online. I like hearing her talk and I like the comments that she makes but the music that is played on her radio show is just not the kind that I like.

So I see that I have a choice here. Either I just learn to be able to stand the music that she plays in order for me to listen to the rest of her show (which I like) - or its me not listening to her show at all.

Now while I was listening to her radio show online I found out that her show comes on a local station of mine - so I'm going to have to give that a listen!

Safety Tips For Women

Braiding My Mother's Hair....

One of the nice memories that I have about my mother since she passed away were the times that I braided her hair.

My mother would usually straighten her hair with the hot comb but as she got older she just didn't want to be bother with the hassle.

Now I braid my own hair after I wash it - that gives me time to decide what I want to do with it. So that must be how we got the idea of me braiding her hair - seeing that I wasn't a professional at it.

They are nice memories because I remember us fighting because she would say that I was braiding her hair too tight but after I finished she was all compliments about it being done.

A Bad Hair Day!

I guess you could say that I am having one of those "bad hair" days!

The weather is hot and humid and sticky and when the weather is so humid my hair just sweats out to an un-manageable mess!

I really should wash it but I have somewhere to go so I'm going to wait and wash it the next day.

I was really lazy with my hair for the last few weeks because it was just too hot to do anything with it and I really didn't feel like doing anything to it so I just put on a cap and went on my way! (Of course I didn't have anywhere too important to go so that was a big help).

But I have come back to the realization that I want my hair to look presentable - even sexy-looking - so I'm going to go back to my "hair" routine.

Of course my most favorite shampoo is Pantene and for some reason Pantene also seems to be one of the most expensive shampoos there is but I am worth it! I love the way that Pantene makes my hair feel. There have been times when I have bought a cheaper brand of shampoo but my favorite is still Pantene.

It's also time for me to perm my hair again but this time I waited until all the perm was out of my hair because I had bought a cheaper brand of perm and I just didn't like the way it left my hair so I'm going to go back to my favorite brand of hair perm.

After I do all of the above then my hair will go back to looking its sexy best!

My Credit Score

I know that my credit score is quite low and I know that it is something that I have to work on and something that I want to work on.

If you don't even know what your credit score or credit rating is there are supposed to be some ways that you can get a free copy of your credit score or credit rating. I don't know exactly where you can get it from for free but I know if I look online I would be able to find out how to see what my credit score is and how to get a copy of it for free.

I do know that my credit rating is very low - actually I don't know how it got to be SO low but it is still something that I have to work on. I do know that I have a very high credit card balance and there is another balance that is under $1,000 from a clothing store where I used to shop all the time.

On the positive side, I have been able to pay off a few of the other balances that I owed. For instance I owed a balance on my own bank account and I found out to my dismay that you couldn't open a new bank account at another bank until you paid off the balance that you owed to your previous bank. But like I said I was able to pay that one off. I also had a student loan that I paid off and it took me a loooooooooooooong time to pay off my student loan but I managed to do that too. I also had some medical bills that I had to pay off. In my case I found out that when you go to the emergency room at the hospital - unless you have medical insurance - which I didn't have at the time - you get 2 bills mailed to you! One bill was for the emergency room service and I guess the other bill was for "sevices rendered" - which I really don't know what it was specifically for but it looked legitimate enough!

So I still have a ways to go to get my credit rating back into the "good" numbers!

Whoopi Goldberg to join "The View"

I am a big fan of Whoopie Goldberg and I would watch almost anything that she appears in. It will be interesting to see how she blends in with the rest of "The View". I haven't been a fan of this show but with the news about Whoopie I may decide to watch "The View" just to see if I will like it.

I'm Working On A Profile Picture

While I do have a website with a picture on it, I can't add that picture here on my blog profile simple because blogger doesn't allow for remote accesssing of pictures.

So now I'm going to have to join a picture-hosting site so that I can upload a picture for my blog profile.

Kimora Lee Simons

Life In The Fab Lane!

I do have to say that I love watching this show. I'm also a little jealous of Kimora Lee's lifestyle. Now mind you I said a "little" bit jealous!

You see first of all I don't have any kids so I really don't know what its like having to take care of kids but I'm sure that it makes your life quite busy no matter how rich you are!

She also has a lot of people around her, stylists, assistants and that is just too many people for me!

She is also the head of a big fashion empire and no matter how glamours that looks there is also a lot of headaches!

But I am jealous of her money and I am jealous of her gorgeous clothes but I know that I would want to have the exact same life that she does.

11/14/07 - I have been watching this show for a while now. I have even watched the reruns more than a few times. I like seeing her lifestyle, the clothes, how she runs her business and how she is a mother to her kids. But I don't think that I could stand having all of those people around me
